About FED
The BS& H department contributes to all the core branches in imparting the prime concepts through the basic sciences viz., physics, chemistry, mathematics etc. in the first year and hence preparing the students ready to procure the domain knowledge of their core engineering branch. The humanities subjects like English, Management and Managerial Economics supply the essential life skills which are primacy in the career for a professional being. Not only that, the subjects like Professional ethics and morals make the graduates socially responsible with civic sense and personally ethical in all the respects of their professional life. In other words the S H department is the real core in shaping students as an absolute engineer and also as a complete man.
The English Communication skills lab is an integral part of Science and Humanities department to impart the knowledge & improve skills in all the four dimensions of communication viz., Listening, Speaking, Reading and Writing.
This Department also includes Computer science faculty to teach computer basics, IT Work shop and C Programming. The IT Work shop is another dimensional foundation in technical aspect, which acts as a prelude and prerequisite in making an Engineering student acquainted with fundamentals of Computer hardware technology and basic concepts of programming. The C Programming subject reinforces these conceptual abilities of the students to make them ready to receive advanced concepts in their ensuing years of education i.e. from second year onwards.

The Basic Science & Humanities Department was started in the year 2008. It caters the Young Technocrats in Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, English and Environmental Studies, excelling them to become a futuristic Noble Engineers. The Department is headed under the abled guidance of Dr. V.J.Devaraaj, M. Sc.,M.Phil.,M.B.A.,Ph.D who has a vast experience in Engineering Mathematics at different levels.
Our Department Faculty consists of highly experienced Faculty who are consistently put their efforts and give best guidance to students both at Academic & Co-Curriculum activities. The Department is maintaining English Communication Skills Lab, English proficiency Lab with highly configured computer systems. It also has well equipped and sophisticated Engineering Chemistry and Physics Laboratories to rejuvenate their old knowledge. The department maintains its own library besides a central library of the college. It has its own unique commitment towards the institution to make it a world class Technical hub of Engineers producing the most sought after top class Professionals.
Our attention towards students aims at achieving concentrated focus with desired attitudinal adjustments facilitates transformation by providing a platform for smooth migration of students with varying social and academic backgrounds.
The Course handouts were given to students at the beginning of each semester includes syllabus, prescribed text book and reference books, lesson plan, evaluation scheme, examination dates and time to facilitate the students for evaluation.
The Department gives top priority to conceptual learning with particular emphasis on analytical, logical and thought processing expertise in their academics as well as on the overall Personality development of the student.
The department imparts quality education to its students by means of demonstration with available teaching aids.

Dr.V.J.Devaraaj is the Head of the Department of Basic Sciences and Humanities Department. His research area is Statistics with specialization OR and SQC. He is also a Master in Business Management. He has 5 International publications and 3 presentations in International conferences. Participated in various workshops. Teaching as a passion, he has 16 years of Teaching Experience to his credit. He is an examiner and paper setter for various Autonomous engineering colleges.
